Tattoo Aftercare Instructions
(Saniderm Healing Method)
Your tattoo was covered with Saniderm to help protect it during the healing process.
Leave the Bandage On
~ Leave the original bandage on for 3 - 5 days
~ It is normal for fluid, ink, and plasma to collect underneath the bandage.
~ The tattoo may appear blurry or “inky” under the wrap - this is completely normal.
Remove the Bandage Early If
~ The bandage begins leaking excessively
~ Water gets underneath it
~ The seal breaks and exposes the tattoo
~ You develop irritation or an allergic reaction
Removing the Bandage
~ Wash your hands first.
~ Remove the bandage slowly under warm running water.
~ Pull it low and parallel to the skin rather than straight up to help minimize irritation.
Cleaning the Tattoo
~ Wash your hands first.
~ Wash gently with warm water and unscented antibacterial soap.
~ Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub.
~ Allow the tattoo to fully air dry before applying lotion.
Moisturizing
~ With clean hands apply a very thin layer of fragrance-free lotion as needed.
~ Do not over-moisturize. The tattoo should not feel greasy or suffocated.
~ Do not use vaseline or petroleum.
During Healing
For approximately 2 weeks:
~ Do not scratch, pick, or peel the tattoo.
~ Avoid soaking the tattoo (baths, pools, lakes, hot tubs).
~ Avoid direct sunlight and tanning
~ Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing over the tattoo.
~ Mild peeling, flaking, and itching are normal parts of healing.
Contact Your Artist If You Notice
~ Excessive redness spreading outward
~ Thick yellow or green discharge
~ Severe swelling or heat
~ Fever or unusual pain
Most tattoos heal on the surface within 2-3 weeks, though full healing underneath the skin can take longer.
